CREATE WITH ME
The theme for this month's series is "making 2D/3D animated art."
Check out this short video (2 minutes) to learn more:
This series will be published in 2 parts over April and May 2024.
In April, I go over all the "building blocks": 3D modeling, 3D and 2D grease pencil canvas setup, animation setup. There is about 1.5 hours of narrated footage, split over 3 videos.
In May, I use this base to start painting! I render the 2D art with lineart and colors, and then paint my 3D artwork. There is about 1.5 hours of narrated footage, split over 3 videos, and about 2 hours of additional silent process videos.
Alongside these demos, I include:
- my .blend files at multiple points in my process
- reference images
- relevant links to other resources
I will also be sharing real-time videos and .blend files of a companion art piece that I've been making using the same techniques.
Disclaimer: These videos are unscripted and casual (I think of them more as live demos than proper tutorials), but I do my best to explain everything I do, and I include timestamps and links to learn more. Eventually, this will make it over to my YouTube channel as a free tutorial, but that is a few months away at least, so this is for anyone who wants to see this process NOW and doesn't mind a less polished format.
IN TOTAL
About 9 hours of video, which you can download and watch at your own pace, whether that's real time or sped up! Many of these include real time narration from me as I work.
